Why Do Some Haunts Fail And Some Succeed? Part 1.

Welcome back everyone to another edition of HH365. With the sad closing of Camp Evans Base of Terror, it reminds us of how easy it is for some of our favorite Haunted Attractions to go under and are forced to close. I want to spend the day going over some of what I believe are the keys to keeping a Haunt open and flourishing and what causes a Haunt to be forgotten.

1. Fan Base. Every Haunt needs to develop a devoted fan base. Fans that will make it a point to come to your Haunt every year without question. Fans that are devoted enough that they will not try other attractions before yours. Sure, the average Haunt fan will travel to many, but you want to give them something that keeps them coming back year after year.

2. Advertising. Haunters and Haunt fans are one in the same. We need to remember that there are normal people on this planet that do not think about Haunts every week. 90% of the population will only go to one and two a year during the season. Advertising needs to hit the people. A ton of  Haunts in my area are outstanding at it, but some have failed and it shows as the attendance drops every year.

3. Update. This is not stating that you need to rebuild a new attraction every year, or to even start a new attraction every year. But, the best places add something new every year. Whether it be a new game, some different scenery, or different actor placement. I know quite a few locations that have not changed anything in years, then a couple that change a ton every single season. Which one do you think the fans would prefer? I know one of our writers has stopped going to a few as there is nothing new to report.

4. Make it a fun night out. The majority of Haunt goers are only there for the experience. No, they did not notice how you set the table in the dinner room inside the Hotel or the lighting to hide the actor in the third room. They want to have fun because its a fall festivity. They will all be wearing plaid and head to a pumpkin patch tomorrow with their pumpkin spiced latte. Have more to do at your attraction then just the houses or hayrides. Add games and food, i cannot stress enough how important it is to create a night out with the family or friends. You me be the scariest Haunt on the planet, but if you can walk through for 30 minutes and then leave. You are leaving customers and cash in the process.

That is Part 1 of this segment. Feel free to reach out if you believe or have even more ideas. Until Next time everyone, this is HH365.com, Where Every Day Is Haunt Season.

Extra Attractions at Haunted Attractions

Welcome Back Everyone to HH365! We hope you are ready for this upcoming Haunt Season as we can say it will be a killer season. Lets talk about some cool new features we have seen at haunt and coming to haunts.

1. Escape Games. A ton of your local haunted attractions are starting up new Escape Game businesses. You can see the categorization of Escape Games to Haunts because they are generally the same kind of build. You create a room and the players have to escape. Who better to design world class scenes then haunters? We are seeing these pop up at Haunts in full versions and mini escape games that take 5 or so minutes. Great idea to add to off-season business plus add to the night's experience.

2. Like the picture above, sideshows or extra attractions that cost just a few bucks more to partake in but add to the thrill of the evening out and add extra scares. These attractions could include The Coffin Ride, a ride where you are dared to enter a coffin for a few minutes. One of our local attractions has The Bloodshed, pictured above. The Bloodshed adds a little more fear to your night as you are strapped to the chair above alone while your friends watch you cry.

3. Carnival Games. In quite a few haunts that we visit, we have noticed a growing number of fun games to play. Most are inspired by your average Amusement Park game, with a Horror Twist! Games like throw the severed head into the can, or smash the pumpkin, or games like smash the brain into the skull of the zombie. Usually, these are only a few dollars and you can win a prize. Good Times!

Of course there is more to come, we cant waste all of our news on one post! So keep it here at HH365! Where It Is Haunt Season Every Day!

Movies VS Reality Part 4. Annabelle

Welcome back to the next installment of HH365! Today we will continue our Movies VS Reality segment where we look into some of our favorite Horror Movies and see where the inspiration comes from and the true story behind some of our favorite titles.

Today we will take a dive into the Annabelle franchise. A ton of people have enjoyed this saga brought to us recently by more stories from The Warrens. Their tales of their research has brought us an entire Universe of films including both Conjurings, Annabelle, and The Nun. With more of the universe coming our way lets take a look at the inside story of Annabelle.

Annabelle started as a haunted Raggedy Ann doll given to a Nursing Student in 1968. The Nursing student said that the doll started to act strangely, and that a psychic medium told the student that the doll was inhabited by the spirit of a dead girl named "Annabelle". The student and her roommates tried to accept and nurture the possessed doll but the doll started to exhibit malicious and frightening behavior.

It was at this point that The Warrens say that they were first contacted by the scared young adults. After investigating, The Warrens pulled the doll from the owners and placed it in their museum after deeming it "Demonically Possessed." The doll is now kept at The Warrens Occult Museum under lock and key. This room is supposedly blessed once a week to keep the bad spirits at bay.

Believe it or not, here is the real Annabelle doll under its lock down.

We can see how the movie needed to make this doll scarier to entice the crowd and add effects. The movies were highly dramatized as the original story would not have made for what we have today. Between cults transferring their spirits to a doll after a Manson-style murder to a young child of a doll maker being run over by a giant truck. The movies really had to take liberties to make this more appealing to the audience.  Its funny, a true haunted doll had to be dramatized but a real Psycho like Ed Gein, a real person, didn't need any Hollywood story telling to capture what he had really done. With that being said. When you see Based on a True Story. It is usually just a fact or two with an entire script or book written around it.

That is all for today everyone! Keep it here at HH365! Where every day is Haunt Season!

Tuesday's With TheMovieInsta

Jason Goes To Hell (1993)

"My professional opinion: this guy's deader than shit. Hahahahaha. Um, strike that last comment from the record."

Story:
"After being blown away by a team of FBI agents, Jason Voorhees needs to find a way to overcome certain death. When his bloodied remains are sent to the morgue, his heart, still intact, is able to hypnotize a coroner and take over his body. After brutally dispatching a couple of FBI agents, he heads back to his favorite stomping grounds: Crystal Lake. Jason commences another teen massacre while a bounty hunter discovers the only way to kill him."
The movie opens with a girl driving to Crystal Lake all alone. She goes up to a cabin, and starts making herself at home. After quickly fixing a light bulb, she decides to take a shower. Jason's boobie senses must have tingled, because he comes out of no where to attack this girl. She takes off running through the woods into an open field. She tucks and rolls over some men hiding in the bushes. The men spring out and open fire on Jason. They shoot him about 100 times (confirmed later) and then decide to blow him up. (Why they didn't do this to begin with?) Jason is blown to pieces and we see his heart stop beating.
After the title card, a coroner (Phil) takes Jason's body into the morgue. Phil goes over all the damage that had been done to Jason's body. He examines Jason's heart next and it starts beating again. For some reason, he scoops it up and takes a big bite of it. This causes some yellow beams to go out of Jason's corpse to go into Phil's body, and also makes him roar like a lion. Shortly after this, Phil leaves the morgue on a killing spree.
Now we are introduced to Creighton Duke, a bounty hunter. For some reason (it's never explained) he knows about Jason's whole family history and his ability to body swap with anyone. Creighton goes to a small diner in "Jason's home town" where we are introduced to a waitress named Diana. Creighton says he needs to help to take down Jason once and for all, but he ends up getting put in jail. Not sure why he had to be arrested, but he was. Meanwhile, Jason's spirit is hopping around from body to body in search of something more permanent.
Eventually, we find out that Diana is Jason's sister. After she is killed, the only one that can defeat Jason is her daughter, Jessica. So will she defeat him, or will he take over her body and become himself once more?

Acting: Honestly, I didn't have a problem with the acting in this entry. The only actress that I couldn't stand was Kari Keegan, who played Jessica. She was just awful. The stand out for me was John D LeMay, who played Jessica's boyfriend, Steven. He carried the film. I can't really comment on Kane's performance on this one, because he is barely behind the mask.

Fear Factor: I do not find this movie scary at all, but something that I do love about it is the practical effects. The kills in this movie are the best part about it. Other then that, I find this film to be extremely cheesy. Not in a good way, either. I found myself rolling my eyes constantly and being annoyed by character choices.

Originality: This entry is 100% different than any other one in the series. In this case, is that a good thing? No. It's not. I'll start with the only positive note I have for this movie. This is the most story driven out of probably the whole series. There are a lot of characters and you get to know them pretty well. Now, the negative. This movie makes no sense. All of a sudden Jason Voorhee's has a sister? What? Where the hell has she been this whole time? It's just a dumb detail to put in the ninth movie in a franchise. Who is Creighton Duke and why does it feel like they should have given him more screen time? Whenever he came on screen, I was like, "Oh yeah. He's in this". The film just has so many issues. I get that they were trying to do something different, but it just didn't work.

Overall: Jason Goes To Hell is a horrible Friday the 13th film. Maybe if it had been a different supernatural slasher, it might be a cult classic by now. Who knows? All I know is that it doesn't work for a Friday film. I did love the kills very much, and the character development that we did get was good (excluding Creighton). Steven was a great final guy who really fought until the very end. The best part of this movie was the last shot of the film when Jason actually got taken to Hell, and we get a nice little cameo of someone we all love.
Next week, I'll see you in the future... and space?

Overall:
That is our weekly chime in from our Movie Reviewer. I think i enjoyed this movie a little more then she did. I enjoyed the backstory because at least it added a little Myth to the Legend that is Jason Voorhees. Sure, it is a bit campy but at least they made an effort to try an explain this Maniac. Well! that is all we have for you today, come back tomorrow for more HH365.com! Where Everyday Is Haunt Season!

Halloween Franchise Thoughts

Welcome back everyone to the next installment of HH365! As you can see from the headline photo of one of the greatest horror movies ever made, we will take this post to talk about the entire Halloween Franchise.

Everyone knows about Michael Myers chasing Laurie Strode. Most people have seen most of the movies. But lets take a look and see how some of it really does not make any sense. The first movie is about Myers killing his sister after making love to her boyfriend and then coming back to his old house 15 years later, sees Laurie and follows and attacks her and her friends later that night on Halloween while being followed by his old shrink Dr. Loomis. OK, awesome. The second movie takes place right after the first movie with the same cast and same idea, only that they add that Laurie is actually Michael Myers' Sister. How did he find her? How did he know about her? We shall continue because it gets weirder

The third movie leaves the Michael Myers story completely. This is one of the reasons that I own it, but still haven't watched it. No interest.

The fourth movie has Michael chasing down his niece. Laurie's niece that was adopted after her mother and father died in a car crash. So Michael again escapes a mental institution to go after another family member that he has never seen or heard of until he is in the ambulance being transported. The niece wins the battle as the police show up and shoot Michael to hell. Jamie Lloyd then touches her uncles hand and soon afterwards tries to kill her adopted mother.

The fifth installment has Jamie in a children's clinic who cant speak. So Michael, with the help of a guy that lives on some creek and nurses him back to health is now linked to his niece on a telepathic level. Michael then again goes after his Niece and again like always, the incredible Dr. Loomis. '

The sixth installment brings back a name from the past in Tommy Doyle. Tommy was the little boy that Laurie was babysitting in the first movie and set up shop next door to the old Myers' house because he knows he will be back. Well, Jamie is finally captured by Thorn, or Michael. Kind of the same thing now as we find out that in the Pagan days, Thorn was a curse on the family where one member needed to kill innocence to keep the crops growing or something. Jamie is also pregnant at the time of capture. Not sure how according to our math , a 13 year old girl now looks 29 and pregnant but we will carry on. Michael kills his niece but now is tracking Jamie's baby that Tommy now has picked up from a bus station locker room because he was lucky enough to be listening to the radio as this was going on. Tommy Doyle with the help of some of the strode family finally take down Michael with the help of Dr. Loomis, who else? This was actually Donald Pleasence's last film as he died during production. The movie ends with Dr. Loomis going back into the sanitarium and lets out a giant scream as Tommy and the gang drive off. So a movie killed off a character that was played by an actor that died. Good thinking, unlike Star Wars. Hmmmm. Continuing!

The seventh installment now brings us back to Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode or Keri Tate because she faked her death 20 years earlier to escape Michael. Not sure if  H20 acknowledged the existence of her daughter Jamie but we will carry on because now she has s son John Tate and is running a fancy school in California. Michael finds the nurse from the original Halloween and loots and pillages her house and some kids that live on the block until he finds the Laurie Strode folder. Then Michael makes his way to California and kills everyone but Mother and son. Laurie ends up decapitating Myers, or does she?

The eighth movie ends the Laurie strode story for now. Michael hunts down Laurie in a mental hospital after the dismembered the wrong man thinking she had killed Michael. Michael then eliminates Laurie within the first ten minutes of the movie and heads to his old house to kill a bunch of annoying kids shooting some web investigative show. Then karate fights Busta Rhymes and died in a fire in the end.

Rob Zombie created his own Michael Myers story line and it was far better, even though I am still really on the fence with the Zombie sequel. It still follows the plot and doesn't make up family members along the way.

Now, Forget everything that has happened since The Original Halloween. Because Halloween 2018 is going to take a shit on it. Fast forward 40 years from the initial babysitter attacks. Michael was locked up for 40 years and then comes after Laurie but she is ready for him. So now we are making sequels that cancel out all of the other sequels? Even the sequel that John Carpenter helped create? Why do we have to ruin everything? This timeline was not confusing enough, now you make a movie that you have to advertise that the existing sequels do not matter. What in the hell is going on? Friday the 13th maybe super campy but at least it follows a generic timeline. I am not sure what happened to Halloween. But it is all over the place. We literally just finished them all and I still had to think about about this messed up timeline and family members.

Then we continue this with two more sequels coming to Halloween 2018, even after stating that they hate sequels and wanted a fresh start? Great job Hollywood!

That is all we have for you today at HH365.com Where Every Day Is Haunt Season!

Sounds Are Important in Haunted Attractions

Welcome Back to the next installment from your friends at HH365!

Today, I want to talk about the importance of sounds when you are in a Haunted Attraction. We normally take great sounds or soundtracks for granted as people walk through and are running for their life. But we simply forget how sound can be a huge motivation for fear. Think about going on a hayride without songs playing at the front of the trailer. Think about walking through your favorite haunted house without hearing the arching of electricity. Or the screams coming from the victims in the house. Also, picture chainsaws without sound. It doesn't sound that much fun anymore does it?

Think about watching some of the greatest movies of all time without their amazing soundtracks.
Can you picture Jaws without this?
This soundtrack has installed fear for generations. It will continue to send fear down the spines of anyone thinking about entering the water.

Imagine watching Michael Myers chasing down his Sister, Cousin, Niece, Great Niece three times removed from his adopted cousin. Whoever he is chasing, it is as half convincing without hearing this.
I mean Come On! Once you hear that loud thunderous chord from the piano, you know there is about to be blood.

Just like our favorite movies, Soundtracks and Sound effects in Haunted Attractions bring out the real base fear inside all of us. These sounds from our movies are with us for a lifetime. The same thing is true for our favorite Haunted Attraction. Sound is key to setting the mood, adding more fear and helping to tell whatever story is set up in your Haunt.

Sound is a huge key to a successful scare of any kind. Make sure you have your haunt ready to feed on all of the senses by adding great sound.

Thats what we have for you today at HH365! Where Every Day Is Haunt Season!

Movies VS Reality Part 3. The True Story That Brought on LeatherFace, Hannibal Lecter and Norman Bates

Welcome back to HH365! Today we will continue our Movies VS Reality segment from Halloween Haunts 365. Today we will take a look at Ed Gein. The Serial Killer that became the inspiration behind some of our Favorite Horror Movie Icons.

Edward Theodore Gein, "The Butcher of Plainfield" was born in Plainfield, Wisconsin on August 27th 1906. Ed was one of America's first Prolific Serial Killers. Ed Gein had some serious Mental issues and a ton of Mommy issues when he started committing his crimes. Before being arrested after police found a murder that Gein had no doubt committed, he held different odd jobs here and there and owned the farm that his family previously owned before he took over. Gein was reportedly well liked in the area. Some would consider him just a harmless odd ball going about his business. What people didn't know about ol Gein was that back at the family farm he had actually boarded up all of the rooms that his mother had used and kept them museum quality pristine. Gein had moved him self into a tiny room offset of the kitchen even though he had owned the entire house. This was about the time he started reading magazines about Cannibalism and Nazi Science performed at the Holocaust.

On the morning of November 16th 1957, Plainfield Hardware store owner Bernice Worden disappeared. A local resident reported that the Hardware store's truck had been driven out from behind the building at about 9:30 am. The hardware store was closed all day which had not been very suspicious as it was hunting season and Worden would often join in the festivities. At about 5:00 pm, Warden's Son, Deputy Sheriff Frank Worden entered the store to find that the cash register was open and that there were very noticeable blood stains on the floor. Frank Worden told investigators that Ed Gein has been in the store the night before his Mother went missing and that he would return the next morning to pick up some Anti-Freeze. A sales slip for a gallon of Anti-Freeze was the last receipt written by Bernice before her disappearance.

On the evening of the same day, Gein was arrested at the local grocery store. During his arrest, The Waushara County Sheriff's Department would search the Gein farm. This is when all of our movies became thoughts. A deputy from the Sheriff's department found Bernice Worden's decapitated body in a shed on the Gein property, hung upside down from her legs with a crossbar at her ankles and ropes at her wrists. The Torso was ripped open and "Dressed like a deer". She had been shot by a .22 caliber rifle and the mutations were done after her death. This, unfortunately for the world was not the only thing found at the Gein Farm.

The Sheriffs Department also found the following:
Whole Human bones and fragments.
A wastebasket made of human skin.
Human skin covering multiple chairs.
Skulls on his bedposts.
Female Skulls, some with the tops sawed off.
Bowls made from Human Skin
A Corset made from a human torso.
Leggings made from human leg skin.
Masks made from female human skins.
Mary Hogan's face mask in a paper bag.
Mary Hogan's head in a box.
Bernice Worden's entire head in a burlap sack.
Bernice Wordens's Heart in a plastic bag by the stove.
9 Vulvas in a box
A young girls dress and two vulvas from women under the age of 15.
A belt made from human female nipples.
Four noses.
A pair of lips on a window shade string.
A lampshade made from a human face
Fingernails from human female fingers.

Insane! And you have to remember, in 1957, none of this was heard of.

The collecting of human skin to create clothing and masks directly connects to Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Also, brings us to Hannibal Lecter with the Cannibalism. Also from The Silence of the Lambs, Buffalo Bill. How he would dress up as women from body parts taken from his victims.

Now that brings us to the inspiration behind Norman Bates and the classic Psycho from Alfred Hitchcock. One of the darkest movies of its time and broke the mold on horror and what would be possible out of human beings. Ed Gein was trying to dress like his Mother with all of the woman parts taken from his victims. Also, the way Norman Bates kept his mothers body all of those years later was reflective of everything that Ed Gein had boarded up to protect.

Ed Gein in is Horrors inspired some younger film directors to stardom and set the Horror Genre on fire. Even after seeing all of the movies this disgusting person inspired, it is still very hard to understand what those police went through that day!

HH365! Where everyday is Halloween! Come back soon!

We used the amazing Wikipedia for most the research. Thank you!

Tuesdays With TheMovieVlog

Friday the 13th: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)

"You're all gonna die. You're the last ones. He's come back for you."

Story: "A boat full of graduating high school students headed to Manhattan accidentally pull Jason Voorhees along for the ride."
The film opens with a boy and girl making out on a boat. We hear over the radio station that the DJ dedicated the song playing to all of the Lakeview seniors that are graduating. The girl says, "Hey! That's us!" So now, the audience knows that they are graduates. The boy randomly tells his girlfriend that they are near the lake where "that young boy drowned". He then tells us the back story of Jason. As he is telling this story, the anchor on his boat hangs on a power line and lights up Jason like the fourth of July. The couple resumes making love as Jason comes back from the dead once more. He makes his way onto the ship, killing both of the love birds.
We cut to a girl (our new final girl, Rennie) boarding a cruise ship with a bunch of her class mates. The Lakeview seniors are taking a cruise from Crystal Lake to New York City for their graduation trip. We are introduced to a few of the new main cast members, including Mr. McCulloch. He is Rennie's uncle and also in charge of all the students on the cruise. We see Jason climb up the anchor and onto the ship. Before we know it, Jason is picking off the students one by one on their way to Manhattan.

Acting: I'll keep it short and sweet. The acting is just awful in this movie. All of the actors come off so incredibly cheesy, and it's very distracting. I like Kane Hodder as Jason, but even he isn't given enough to do here. He isn't nearly as threatening as the previous film, and comes off pretty stiff and boring. Jensen Daggett, who plays final girl Rennie Wickham, is just super stale. This makes Rennie one of the most forgettable final girls of the whole franchise.

Fear Factor: Jason Voorhees is just so dull in this entry. All of the kills are so generic and plain. He does a lot of slow stabbing and off screen kills. The only kill worth mentioning is one where the guy loses in a boxing match (you know the one). Also, what the hell is up with Rennie seeing little boy ghost Jason? It just doesn't make sense to the story or the series as a whole. Why would you see the ghost of someone who isn't truly dead? I know Jason is a zombie, but this whole plot point is just stupid.

Originality: Yeah, I'll point out the obvious. This is the first entry that doesn't take place at or near Crystal Lake. It barely takes place in Manhattan though! You are on the cruise ship for an hour and five minutes of the hour and forty minute run time. Other than location, this film is just a version of greater films that came before it.

Overall: So, picture this... What if they named this movie something different? Like... what if they called it, "Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason On A Boat", or something less stupid. Then! Then, they could have let the whole Manhattan ending be a surprise to the audience. That would have been a WAY better approach to this. I understand that the budget got in the way for the film makers, but I think this whole script and title needed a rewrite. I do not like this entry, and I always skip it during a marathon. Jason and all the other characters are so forgettable, and I can't say I recommend this one at all.
Next week, I'll see you guys in... Hell?

Overall:

Another review from TheMovieVlog that I am having a hard time arguing with. She hit this installment right on the head. I however, never skip this entry because it has a campy entertainment value that reminds me of being little when watching it. No way means that it is close to a good movie.

That is all we have for you today, come back soon where every day is Haunt Season!

Why does Robert Englund Not Have An Oscar?

Welcome Back Kiddies to another episode of HH365. Today I want to try and understand why Robert Englund does not have an Academy Award.

In 1984, one of the most Prolific Horror Villains and a Pop Culture Icon known around the world for 35 years now was born when A Nightmare on Elm Street released. Robert Englund played the role of Freddy Krueger. We do not need to go into much backstory as Englund played the role so well that there were 7 sequels and a failed remake that probably never need to exist, Thank you Michael Bay, you failed!

Coming back to the character Wes Craven Created and Robert Englund portrayed. The Entire World knows who Freddy Krueger is. From the Depths of China, Australia, Egypt...Wherever! People who have never seen a second of any of the Nightmare series knows who Freddy Krueger is.

Now I am going to mention a movie. Moonlight. I can bet the house that no one in the world has ever heard of this 2017 movie. I know I have not. And I follow movies at a pretty decent rate. Well, The Movie Moonlight won the 2017 Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Really? It is like this every year. A movie not one person went out of their way to see gets the limelight.

The Horror genre has been under attack from the Academy for way too long. Just look at the Box Office in 2017. The Academy Award Winner for best film did not even place in the Top 50 grossing movies for the year. Who is judging these things?

So now lets take the Actors or Actresses under the microscope. Meryl Streep has won a Ton of Oscars, deserving as so as she is a really good actress. Well I will mention a name. Sophie. Now everyone is looking around like "Are we supposed to know who the hell he is talking about?"  Streep won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1982 for playing the role Sophie in Sophie's Choice. Sophie's Choice did 30 Million at the Box Office. The Original Nightmare did 45 million. Before Krueger was a household name, Robert Englund took down the Academy Award winning movie by 15 million dollars.

Box Office is very important to a movie. This shows that people spent their hard earned money to go see something they enjoyed. There is no secret to how big Star Wars has become. Even naming that Titan of George Lucas, there are polls showing that more people knew who Freddy Krueger was then Darth Vader.

This does not just happen to Craven or Englund but the entire Genre that makes more money every year then whatever whiny artsy movie is out that year. I do not condone all Oscar Winning performances. But really, take a look through the list of past winners and how many of them did you actually see? Or better question, How many of them did you actually want to see?

There are some amazing movies on that list, but realistically 50% we have never heard of or actually wanted to sit down and watch.

To end my argument. Disney created a character known just as much as Freddy Krueger. Disney as a company has 98 Oscar Trophies by doing the same sad story over and over again with just different Characters.  How can we sit here and not give some of the people in this genre some of the same love? Where is Robert Englund's Oscar? Where is anyone's Oscar for Horror? People love Horror.

There are Horror Conventions all over this country and across the world where people come out in droves to meet their favorite stars from the past and present. I am sorry but where are the Romantic comedy conventions? The thriller conventions? Oh, Nowhere. It is time for the Academy to show some love to the movies that keep their studios so flushed with cash they can make these stupid movies that no one wants to see.

That is all for today from the Website that treats everyday like Halloween. See You Next Time!

Annual Spirit Halloween Review 2019

Welcome Back Everyone to the next edition of HH365! Today we were able to take our Annual Trip to Spirit Halloween's Flagship Store in Egg Harbor Township. We usually like to go on Opening Day but did not make that happen this season. But lets get started on what we saw and what we liked.

As you can see from the picture above, Spirit decided to take this year's theme Nautical. Really do not understand what is spooky about a wharf but it is different. The Main theme is the Reaper's ship surrounded by the new Animatronics Spirit has to offer this year.

Located in the back of the store is The Aquarium.
A nice little walk through with LED displays of sea life that attempt to scare. It is fun for the little ones and the weaker scare fans.

I will be blunt with this review. There was nothing we were excited about this season. There are cool IT and Trick r Treat animatronics. A whole ton of Clowns takes of Spirit this season, a bit too many if you ask us. But this season really just lacks something. We had a hard time nailing down why were not excited over anything this year from Spirit. We always get one thing every year and we walked out of there today scratching our heads. I don't want to say the word disappointed but we are pretty close. Props are the exact same from the last few years, It feels like nothing changed. I am still baffled with the Wharf theme.

A bright spot in this cloudy journey! This year they have brought the Horror Classics back with unique products from your favorite Horror Franchises. We will be back a few more times to pick up some of the Nightmare on Elm street products. Cool signs, Unique yearbooks, pillows, wood statues and much more. This will be the reason we return to Spirit Halloween this year, With Friday the 13th, Halloween and IT. There was a ton for the Horror Collector, just lacking for the Home Haunter this season, a lot like last season.

This wraps up our unfortunate review of Spirit Halloween for the 2019 Season. Keep it here as Haunt Season is just ramping up! We will continue to cover other stores that do a good job for Halloween and Haunting like Home Depot, Walmart, Halloween City and More.

Thank you guys! See you soon!

Tuesday With TheMovieVlog

Photo By Devon Whitehead. @devondraws on instagram!

Welcome back everyone! Today we will continue our Tuesday's With TheMovieVlog Segment and Her reviews of the Friday the 13th Franchise. Lets get to it!

Friday the 13th: The New Blood (1987)

"Hey, Tina. This how they wear their jackets back at the mental hospital?"

Story: "Years after Tommy Jarvis chained him underwater at Camp Crystal Lake, the dormant Jason Voorhees is accidentally released from his prison by a telekinetic teenager. Now, only she can stop him."
This movie opens with a quick recap of the last film, showing us that Jason is still chained to the bottom of Crystal Lake. After this, we see a young Tina Shepard over hearing her mother and father argue. When she hears him hit her mother, she takes off for the lake. Her parents quickly follow her out of their cabin as she climbs into a small boat and floats out into the water. Her father pleas for her to return to shore, but she wishes he was dead. The dock that he is standing on collapses, and he dies.
We time jump ten years into the future, and see that Tina is now a teenager. Tina, her mother and her doctor have returned to the house on Crystal Lake so that Tina can begin her "healing". During a session with the doctor, we quickly learn that Tina is telekinetic. It is because of her powers that Jason is resurrected and broken free from his chains on the bottom of the lake.
Tina knows that she saw a man come from the lake, but her mother and doctor do not believe her. They just think she is having delusions. Nick, the neighbor boy, comes over to Tina's house and invites her to a party he is throwing with his friends. It doesn't take long for Jason to start up a killing spree once more.

Acting: I go back and forth with the acting in this one. I think Kane Hodder is an excellent choice for Jason Voorhees (and it makes sense why he is Jason in the next 3 films after this one). Kane was meant for this role, and it's probably why he is usually the fan favorite. I also really love Lar Park Lincoln. I've always thought that she acted her pants off as Tina. She has to cry through the majority of this film. I try not to be biased though, because I have had the chance to hang out with Lar (during a film festival in my home state), and she was an absolute doll. I loved her long before I met her, but it definitely makes me love Tina even more.
Other than Kane and Lar, the rest are just... meh. The supporting cast are just bottom of the barrel actors that just aren't that convincing.

Fear Factor: The New Blood wastes zero time getting to the kills. There are a ton of kills in this installment, and they're all pretty awesome. I wish we could get a release with the footage that the MPAA made them cut from the kill scenes in this movie, because they cut out quite a bit of gore. I think Kane is an amazing Jason. By now, you all know that Richard Brooker and CJ Graham are my two favorite Jason's, but there is no denying that Kane is an unstoppable force behind the hockey mask. He is probably one of the most creative Jason's to date. He uses literally anything that he can get his hands on to kill with. I have to also mention Jason's make up in this film. Holy shit, it's my favorite Jason look out of the whole entire series. I love that he is really decaying, and just gross. I love his backbone sticking out, even through his clothes. Whoever came up with this design needs an extra pat on the back. Job well done.

Originality: Although we have seen characters in this series that have come from mental institutions, we have never had a character like Tina in this series. I adore that they made Tina telekinetic. It puts her on more of an even playing field with Jason, and makes for an even more exciting show down. The third act in this installment doesn't disappoint.

Overall: I think this film is way better than the seventh installment in a horror franchise has any right to be. It's exciting, it's different, and our final girl puts up one hell of an exhausting fight. This sequel has always been one of my favorites in the series, and it's not given enough love in the horror community.
Next week, I'll see you all in Manhattan!

Scores:

And Overall

Great job again from TheMovieVlog. I will have to disagree with the overall as I believe the story to be around a 3 bloodsplat and Fear factor coming in around a 3 blood splat as well. Making this movie around a 3 Overall for me. But with that being said, she has reviewed a hell of a lot more movies then I have. Very interested to see what comes when Jason Takes Manhattan.  Until next time everyone, Keep it here for everything Scary!

More HHN Announcements

Welcome back everyone to the next segment of HH365.com! Today we find out that HH365 is batting 4 for 5 in its HHN predictions. Earlier last week, HHN has announced a house for US. The Jordan Peele movie that went almost as crazy at the box office as Get Out did.
We were not expecting this to come out as a Walk Through at HHN this year, This was Universal's big surprise for this upcoming Haunt Season. This is the first announcement we have been wrong about. I will fire our Intel guy immediately. Totally kidding Jon. But, like i said in the earlier paragraph, We were correct on another one. This one looks a lot better then US to me. This is one of their original walk through's that are sometimes better then ones modeled after films. Here is their original announcement. HHN is gearing up for one hell of a season.
We are huge suckers for Graveyard themes. I love them . Nothing creepier then walking through a Haunted Graveyard attraction, with the fog pouring in, people jumping out of caskets, and weird images off in the distance behind trees. I am very interested to see what the experts at Universal do with this original attraction. Graveyard Games, I am expecting a lot out of this, and luckily for You and I, we have multiple teams heading to Orlando this year to give full reviews!

That's all we have for you today folks. All Images are property of Universal. Wish we could make images like they do! Come Back tomorrow for the continuation of the Friday the 13th Reviews from TheMovieVlog! We will see you next time!

Why Wes Craven is The Master of Horror!

Welcome back everyone to another edition of HH365.com! Today we will take a look into one of the biggest names in Horror, Wes Craven. Wes Craven has changed horror with his movies three times. Starting back in 1972 with the release of The Last Door On The Left.

The Last Door on the Left is easily one of the most messed up movies I have ever seen. Released a year before the "Groundbreaking" Exorcist. Wes Craven's Last Door on the Left was much more brutal and much more realistic then the Exorcist could ever pull off. People always look back to The Exorcist as the start of shocking Horror. When in fact Wes Craven Started it a full year before and twice as more terrorizing. The Last Door on The Left will always go down as a must see at least once in my book. You take a trip into some poor unfortunate young peoples true life. And fall witness to horrible events that take place every day in the real world.

Then in Wes Craven style, He pushed for a movie that no studio wanted a piece of. Wes knew that his 1984's A Nightmare on Elm Street would forever put him on the map, he just needed to find someone with the same idea. Robert Shaye , Owner of New Line Cinema saw the vision and took the risk. And now look, Wes Craven changed the world of Horror again with the most Iconic Villain of all time, Freddy Krueger. With the monster success of the franchise Wes found out that he had changed Horror again. 30 years after the original film, Freddy Krueger is still widely known through out the planet as the most infamous Horror Icon.

Wes Craven was not done! in 1996, Wes dropped another groundbreaking Horror movie. Scream. The new age horror based in real time with real events took over the box office. This was not a slasher movie, this was not a J Horror movie. Scream brought Horror back in a big way for the new Millennium. Scream also introduced the Ghost Face killer, who was played by many different characters through out the franchise.

Thank you Wes Craven for everything you did for the Horror Community! You are more missed then I think you would have ever understood.

That's all we got for Today, come back soon for another episode of HH365!

Movies Vs Reality Part 2, The True Events Behind Freddy Krueger.

Welcome back everyone to another installment of HH365.com! It is August 7th and we are just one month and one week away from our 2019 Haunt tour. The Spirit Flagship Store is open and we will start seeing the Halloween materials flooding the market as you read this article! We cannot wait to start our Haunt Tour. Now lets get to some interesting facts about our main man Fred.

The story of Freddy Krueger starts with a very creative Director and a story from the Los Angeles times article about a string of a mysterious deaths that had occurred during the time. All the victims reported having recurring nightmares and in the end, dying in their sleep.

Perhaps the story begins earlier in Wes Cravens life. At 11 years old. Wes noticed a man walking through an alleyway by his apartment. The man had noticed someone glaring down at him and looked up to show his deformed face while wearing a familiar fedora. The man stared at Wes for what seemed like hours and scared the young man to his core. This image always stuck with Mr. Craven.

The story has more real world inspiration as Wes Craven was bullied in school like a lot of children are. This bully messed with everyone in the class and school. The Bullies name, Fred Krueger.

Sitting down at a pizza parlor with a member of the design team after getting the green light for A Nightmare On Elm Street, Craven and the team member looked over what burn victims looked like and actually starting designing our Horror Hero out of a Pepperoni Pizza.

No matter how fictional a Character can be, there is usually a real world inspiration behind them. Even a man who seeks revenge on the teenagers of Elm street in their dreams with a razor glove, actually has real world ties to his creator. It always interests me how such creative people come up with their ideas and run with them to create Icons.

Well we are one step closer to Haunt season. We will continue the Tuesdays with the Movie Vlog's coverage of Friday the 13th, then during season she will start reviewing movies based around Haunted Attractions as there has been some great ones created around our favorite subject matter.

Until next time! We will see you tomorrow! HH365 OUT!

The Brigantine Castle Is Making A Comeback...Sort Of....

Welcome Back everyone to another entry from Halloween Haunts 365. We recently received a YouTube video saying the Brigantine Asylum is making a different kind of comeback. Picture above is from darkinthepark.com. A website devoted to the famed Haunted Attraction that used to stand on a pier in Brigantine, NJ.

The Brigantine Castle was opened to the public on Memorial Day Weekend in 1976. The Amusement was a complete success early on. Bringing in one million visitors a year through its doors. This also was not the perfect situation for the Castle as well as Brigantine is a very small shore town and was not built to handle the traffic coming from Philly, New York and all over the east coast to enjoy the castle. Local homeowners were very concerned with the Castle and what it brought to the quiet town. Many complaints were filled for visitors using home owners yards and such as toilets and constantly bothering residents to use their bathrooms. This lead the City to create ordinances to limit shuttle traffic and advertising for the Castle that really hit the Castle and its attendance. There was a ton of reasons for the closing of the Brigantine Castle but the next two were the direct reason the Castle is no more.
1. An August storm cause over $500,000 worth of damage to the pier and castle.
2. The stricter regulations that arose from the devastating and fatal fire at the Great Adventure attraction in 1984. This would cost even more money.

When the Federal Government refused to pay the Flood Insurance the Castle had in full, it was time to shut the doors since attendance fell off horribly. The Castle and all of its attractions including the Brigantine Asylum came to a close in 1984. The owners were able to finally sell the pier for one million dollars in 1987. Ironically, when demolition was to start from the new owners. The Pier mysteriously and ironically burnt to the pilings. Some pilings you can still see today at the end of the newer Sea Wall.

The Come Back.

With the Upcoming 2019 Haunt Season. Creepyworld
America's Biggest Screampark in Fenton, Missouri announced that their newest attraction is The Brigantine Asylum. I think it is outstanding that this Haunt chose to bring back some of the past. With the Brigantine Castle being opened in 1976, it makes it one of the first major Haunted Attractions really ever. For a Haunted Attraction to realize the importance of remembering its Fore Fathers is awesome! Great Job Creepyworld! You can check out more of the info at www.creepyworld.com We borrowed their banner to show you how neat this place is and we really want to check it out if possible.
Looks Outstanding!

This was a cool article for us to write. One of my earliest memories were going to the beach and looking over at the Giant Castle that was just sitting over the Beach and Ocean. I was to young to enter but I will always remember seeing it when I was little.

That's all we have for you today, come back tomorrow, Who knows where we will end up next.

Tuesday With The Movie Vlog

Friday the 13th: Jason Lives (1986)

"I've seen enough horror movies to know any weirdo wearing a mask is never friendly."

Story: "Tommy Jarvis goes to the graveyard to get rid of Jason Voorhees' body once and for all, but inadvertently brings him back to life instead. The newly revived killer once again seeks revenge, and Tommy may be the only one who can defeat him."
They open the film with an all new adult Tommy Jarvis, this time played by Thom Matthews. Tommy and his friend are going to the graveyard where Jason Voorhees is buried, because he needs to see with his own eyes that Jason is really dead. As soon as Tommy sees the body, he starts having flashbacks to the night that he killed Jason. He takes a metal fence post and stabs Jason repeatedly in the chest. Before he gets the chance to set Jason on fire, the fence post is struck by lightening. This wakes up Jason, and Tommy has to make a quick getaway.
Tommy goes straight to the police station to warn them about Jason. They do not believe him and instantly throw him in jail. Meanwhile, Jason is making his way back to Camp Crystal Lake and upping his body count as he goes.
Soon we are introduced to Megan (our new final girl), who is the sheriff's daughter. She takes a liking to Tommy immediately. They work together to break him out of jail, prove his telling the truth, and stop Jason once and for all.

Acting: I'll keep this short and sweet. I like all of the acting in this film. Thom Matthews is a horror treasure at this point, and I love everything he does. This is also my 2nd favorite Jason, played this time by C.J. Graham. I think all of the supporting characters are played well too. I love the daughter and father dynamic between Jennifer Cooke (Megan) and David Kagen (Sheriff Garris). It just all really works for me.

Fear Factor: I like this version of Jason a whole lot. I think he is super brutal and even harder to kill now, because he is undead. CJ Graham makes a very menacing Jason and that's why this version of him works so well. I don't think I'm alone feeling this way. I know a lot of people that think this is the best Friday film and the best Jason.

Originality: Once again, we have the same formula. Jason Voorhees kills a group of teens int he woods... EXCEPT THIS TIME HE IS A ZOMBIE. This is also the first time that they have actual children at the camp. It definitely raises the stakes for the third act of the film. I do need to point out that this sequel had a bigger budget that the previous three films. Maybe that's why this movie feels so much bigger. There are way more people in this movie, and they flip over an entire RV. Also, the third act of this movie has a lot more action than previous films. It really makes for an exciting entry.
One more thing that I love is Tommy and Megan as a duo. Tommy is brave and wants to take down Jason, unlike in part 5 where he spent most of the film crying. Megan is witty, also brave, and hilarious. She's one of my favorite final girls in the series.

Overall: If it isn't totally obvious, I love Friday the 13th part 6. I think it's super exciting, has fantastic characters, and they made their villain even tougher to beat. I love the humor that this film has. It works in the movie, unlike the one before it. The casting was perfect all around, and if you ever have the chance to meet CJ Graham, do not hesitate to meet him. He is one of the nicest guys, ever. Until the next review, don't go poking around in any graveyards kids.

Scores:

Overall:
This was my favorite entry to date. She Nailed it and I love this movie. Really made the Jason we all think of. Until next time. Keep it here every day!
